Welcome!

Thank you for visiting our website. We would like to take the opportunity to share our vision for Christ’s Outreach for the Blind. Our purpose is to create a camp where children can build a stronger self-esteem and meet challenges that will help them achieve a greater independence through a fun and safe learning environment. Our goal is to fill in a service gap usually not met by traditional camps; a camp entirely focused on each participant’s individual needs and abilities regardless of their handicap.

Founded and incorporated in 1997, we are a non-profit charitable organization. Since that time, Christ’s Outreach for the Blind has met two thirds of the capital campaign for building funds. With these gifts, we have accomplished the following goals:

(1) We have built a 10,000 square foot barn which contains:

  • two staff apartments
  • indoor archery range
  • hydrotherapy room
  • steam room
  • weight room
  • public washroom

(2) We are in the process of finishing the Outreach Center. The exterior walls and roof are finished as well as the plumbing roughed in. This building will contain:

  • ten bedrooms
  • ten bathrooms
  • two public bathrooms
  • cafeteria
  • commercial kitchen
  • office
  • laundry room
  • maintenance/storage room

The camp is located near Mt.Vernon, Rockcastle County, Kentucky and is situated on a donated 16.77 acres with an additional 780 acres leased by the camp for $1.00 a year. Our camp will be servicing 600 children annually, and our geographic focus is national.

Studies have shown that physically challenged people may not be able to realistically comprehend their own potential. Many blind and physically handicapped suffer from low self-esteem, a lack of self-confidence and motivation. We feel that learning such skills as fishing, hunting, horseback riding, archery, hiking, swimming, cave exploration, rock climbing, animal awareness, crafts, and games will help address these needs. When a child experiences the thrill of riding a horse or catching their first fish or climbing a mountain range, it will be their first leap toward an even greater independence. In today’s diverse world each individual’s contribution is essential.

We are still under construction and working on our capital campaign and operating expenses. We would like to invite you to share in our vision for a brighter tomorrow by joining us as a partner, a “pioneer” for the blind. As such, we would like to ask you to consider donating time and/or resources to be used at Christ’s Outreach for the Blind. Again, thank you for your consideration. We look forward to meeting with you to answer any questions that you may have, and to share in even greater detail, our dream for Christ’s Outreach for the Blind.

Please call Mike at 1-888-254-6319.

And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.

Isaiah 42:16
